What deletion destroys

Deleting your account removes your account record, your email addresses, your username, your devices, your friend list and anything parked for you on the server — the encrypted blobs first, then the rows that point at them. It takes effect for every device on the account, not just the one you are using.

It is irreversible, and the account id can never be used again. Other people's friend lists and device permissions still name that id, so it is never minted a second time — not with the same email address, and not with your recovery phrase. Signing out of a device erases that device's keys but does not delete the account.

A few things do survive a deletion, deliberately. The privacy policy lists them, and it is the only place that list is written down — so it cannot drift out of step with a second copy here.

If you still have one of your devices

Do it yourself, in the app: Settings · Security · Delete account. It asks for a code we email you, and it happens immediately — no request, no waiting for us. This is the better path whenever it is open to you.

If you have lost every device

Then the app cannot prove the account is yours, and neither can this form. Tell us below and a person will read it, write back to the address you name to check you control it, and only then delete the account. So: this is a request to a human, not a button that erases anything, and it is not instant.
